How to Deal With Tormentors in Destiny 2: Lightfall

Those unprepared can be killed by Destiny 2’s Tormentors.

In Destiny 2: Lightfall, a new enemy lurks about Neomuna, and if you’re unprepared, you’re going to lose a lot. As hulking brutes that strike hard, fast, and from any distance, Tormentors appear to be the deadliest soldiers in the Shadow Legion. In spite of not being invincible, they are extremely difficult to deal with on Legendary difficulty because they can stop your momentum easily.

Here are some tips on dealing with these scythe-wielding enemies whenever you come across them.

Here’s how you can kill Tormentors.

The Tormentors are multi-phase fights, just like some of Destiny 2’s more challenging bosses and enemies. When you encounter one of them for the first time, you should focus on their upper body’s weak points. For now, you should use your precision weapons to attack the Tormentor’s exposed weak points, rather than breaking out your abilities, explosives, or Supers. In this game, you will be able to do serious damage and stay mobile using linear fusion rifles, scout rifles, and bows.

It will be possible to damage the Tormentor’s chest once both shoulder weak points are destroyed, as well as the rest of its body once it has been exposed. In phase 2, the Tormentor becomes much more aggressive and delivers heavier and more lethal attacks.

Tormentors can be seriously damaged by shooting the glowing shoulders.

Tormentors may attack you at any time.

In its unleashed mode, an enraged Tormentor will constantly chase you down and prevent you from using your abilities once it comes close enough. It usually attacks with scythe swings and projectiles.

Moreover, Tormentors are augmented with Void energy in their attacks, as well as constantly launching heavy slam attacks that can wipe out huge chunks of your health. They will use a grab attack to leave you at your death’s door if you get too close, and on higher difficulty levels, they will kill you outright with that attack. If you stay mobile and airborne, you can defeat a berserk Tormentor. When they are in this state, they usually telegraph their attacks, and you can easily dodge them if you are aware of them.

When you face the Nezarec-named Tormentors, keep your distance, lead them on the chase, and keep firing back to wipe them out. Close in for a finisher kill to eliminate them, but do not do this if you’re fighting them. The elite Tormentor is even more deadly than the ordinary Tormentor, and certain Strand powers cannot be used to suspend it or kill it.
