<\/p>\nThe long-awaited PS1 JRPG Legend of Dragoon is finally making its way onto modern consoles, but while fans are ready to celebrate, game-breaking bugs are ruining the fun.<\/p>\n
For those unfamiliar with Legend of Dragoon, it’s a PS1 role-playing game from Sony’s first-party Japan Studio. Although the game didn’t have the broad appeal of the Final Fantasy games coming at around the same time, it eventually found its fans and became a cult classic. Although it had a growing reputation over the years as one of the best RPGs, it never got a proper sequel.<\/p>\n

This – plus the slim selection of PS1 classics on PS5 – is part of why fans were so excited to see Legend of Dragoon revived as part of PS Plus February. Players got excited as they learned that it would have trophy support and be available for standalone purchase – not just with PS Plus. PlayStation even did the right thing by giving the game away for free to people who already own it on PS3, PSP, or Vita.<\/p>\n
Since players have actually played the game, all that excitement has gone down the drain. Visual glitches like odd pixel lines and audio bugs are cutting off voice lines. The threads listing all the bugs are coalescing, and it doesn’t paint a good picture for this version’s playability.<\/p>\n

In addition, using Dragoon magic – one of the game’s core combat mechanics – consistently causes battles to freeze. You can technically beat a battle by using a spell at the end, but then you’ll be stuck in an inescapable black screen. Apparently this is mostly a problem with multi-target Dragoon magic, but trying to figure out which spells will and won’t crash your game is no fun.<\/p>\n
Until the patch comes out, players are hoping for a good first impression, but so far this release hasn’t lived up to their expectations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
