You were sentenced to 999 years in prison after killing 21 people. Now a megacorporation is kidnapping you so you can compete against other teams for freedom. With a button on your collar, you can inject lethal poison at the touch of the button, and your team-mate, the only survivor of your kill-crazy rampage, controls the button. Wow.<\/p>\n

You get to know a mostly entertaining cast of characters in Yurukill: The Calumniation Games. It’s a visual novel. If you get stumped, you can use a hint system to help you move forward. You’ll have to solve puzzles to progress, but they should give you pause for thought for a minute or two.<\/p>\n

Power-ups, boss fights, and a radical J-Pop soundtrack are also included for reasons we can’t mention here. You can lower the difficulty if bullet hell isn’t your thing, but if you’ve played a shooter before, it’s pretty tough to fail.<\/p>\n

It’s a compelling tale and moves at a fast pace, but Yurukill lacks the malicious edge of Danganronpa or the brain-wracking narrative of Zero Escape. As it turned out, we enjoyed it, but we were a bit disappointed that it didn’t push us further.<\/p>\n
