So you’ve decided to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch OLED from the original. Don’t throw away your old dock when you start a new life with your Switch. You might be tempted to shove all your old Switch accessories in the back of your closet. I’m sure you’ll find it useful.<\/p>\n

Can I use the old dock with the Nintendo Switch OLED?<\/h2>\n

Yes, in a nutshell! Your old Nintendo Switch docking station still works with the Nintendo Switch OLED. Even without a LAN port or shiny new white coat, it can still stream Nintendo Switch gameplay to your TV. Nintendo Switch OLED has a lot of advantages over the original Nintendo Switch. Shape-wise, they’re almost identical. The Nintendo Switch OLED looks like its predecessor, but it’s a fraction of an inch wider.<\/p>\n

The only real physical difference between the two is their size and screen. Each Switch model has the same charging port, which is how it connects to the dock. Basically, your old dock works with your new OLED Switch without any problems. It doesn’t matter how big or small the docking station is because it’s open. You can still use your old dock with the Nintendo Switch OLED.<\/p>\n

It’s amazing how much better gameplay looks on the Nintendo Switch OLED. If you dock your Nintendo Switch, you can change a few settings to improve graphics, so you can play your game on your TV just like you do in your hands.<\/p>\n

Joy-Cons for the Nintendo Switch are also compatible with both models, so you might want to hold off on throwing those away, too. Nintendo Switch OLED Joy-Cons are identical to original Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons. Play multiplayer on a new OLED with your old Joy-Cons or mix and match your Joy-Cons for a fun new look.<\/p>\n

Does the Nintendo Switch OLED work with old Switch accessories?<\/h2>\n

It doesn’t matter if you use your old docking station and Joy-Cons, some other accessories might not work. Switch’s top buttons and game card slot are 1cm bigger and have a different layout.<\/p>\n

The Nintendo Switch OLED model doesn’t accept hardcover protective cases and grips that fit the original Nintendo Switch. The wider size of the Nintendo OLED won’t fit in some Nintendo LABO kits.<\/p>\n
