Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Defeat the Arcane Turrets

The Arcane Tower Turrets: How to Stop Them

Those Arcane Turrets in Baldur’s Gate 3 are strange, magical automated turrets that fire on characters who get too close, but do they have a weakness? Does it even matter if you try to get past them? You can turn them off, though it may take a little time to prepare properly if you don’t want to get shot to pieces. Here’s how to beat the Arcane Turrets in Baldur’s Gate 3 and find the option to shut them all down at once.

How to Destroy Arcane Turrets in BG3

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Arcane Turrets lose double health when hit by Lightning Damage. Lightning is generally only available to spellcasters, and even then is time-consuming and difficult to obtain. Here’s an example of Lightning Damage:

  • The Shocking Hands Cantrip
  • Witch Bolt spell (1st level)
  • Chromatic Orb (1st level spell)
  • Lightning Bolt (3rd level spell)
  • Breath weapon of a Blue Dragonborn
  • Arrow of Lightning (rare magic ammunition)

The turrets can also be damaged by Bludgeoning or Radiant Damage, but they are not weak to them. You can have Shadowheart repeatedly cast Sacred Flame from a distance if you’ve reached a point where her cantrips have increased in power – they may only need a few shots to be killed since their “Sturdy” quality offers significant damage reduction, but eventually, they will break. Continue this process until you reach the Arcane Tower (with two more Turrets waiting to shoot you).

Shut Down the Arcane Towers and Use the Generator

To turn off the Arcane Turrets permanently, you must enter the Arcane Tower first. Once inside, follow these steps to turn them off.

  • Jump safely into the garden below using Feather Fall.
  • Get a Baldur’s Gate 3 Sussur Bloom from the glowing blue tree.
  • Return to the Arcane Tower’s lowest level using the garden door.
  • Place the Sussur Bloom inside the Power Generator.
  • By doing this, you will turn on all the lights in the Arcane Tower, activate the elevator, and – paradoxically – deactivate all Arcane Turrets.

You’ll now have free rein of the tower and will be able to reach the impressive NPC Baldur’s Gate 3 Bernard at the top.
