Starfield’s Hidden Treasures: A Guide to Exploring Ship Storage and Inventory

To keep your Starfield spaceship tidy and avoid carrying too much stuff around, which can be a problem, it’s crucial to know how to manage your spaceship storage and items. In Starfield, you can carry various things like tools, weapons, and suits, but your spaceship can help carry them to prevent you from moving slowly. It might seem a bit tricky, especially if you’re new to the game, but I’ll explain how it all works and how to do it better.

How to Store Items

To store items in your Starfield spaceship, go inside it and find the cockpit. In the cockpit, there’s a screen on one of the walls. You can use that screen to access your spaceship’s storage area. From there, you can put things in or take them out whenever you need them.

If you’re near your spaceship (within 250 meters), you can also send things from your own inventory directly to your spaceship’s storage. To do this, open the spaceship menu, press a button (if you’re using a controller), and move items from your inventory to the spaceship’s storage without going inside the spaceship.

You can store various things in your spaceship’s storage, but remember, there’s only a limited amount of space. Whether it’s tools, weapons, or other items, they all take up space, so be careful about how much you keep.

Depending on your spaceship’s design, you might discover other storage spots, like a Captain’s Locker in the cockpit. They’re not as big as the main storage area but can be useful. Some hab containers also offer extra storage space for better organization.

And if you’re in a hurry or simply don’t mind, you can even leave stuff on the floor of your spaceship. Starfield will remember where you placed things, and it won’t count against your storage limit (unless you’re ready to deal with a mess).

Getting More Storage

If you want more storage space in your Starfield spaceship, you can customize it. We’ll explain this in more detail in the guide, but here are the basics: buy new Cargo Holds and attach them to your spaceship. Each Cargo Hold adds extra room for your gear, but it won’t change how your spaceship functions. It’s like having bonus space for your belongings. If you choose Shielded Cargo Holds, you can also dabble in some not-so-legal smuggling activities on the side.

In Starfield, managing your spaceship’s storage is vital for efficient gameplay. Use the cockpit’s screen to store and access items, or transfer items from your inventory when near your ship. Be mindful of limited space, and explore additional storage spots if available. To expand storage, customize your spaceship with Cargo Holds. Shielded Cargo Holds even offer a chance for smuggling activities. Keep your items organized for smoother adventures in the game.
