Ritual Spells and Feats in Baldur’s Gate 3

Use Free Spells to Gain an Edge

A Ritual Caster Feat unlocks the Ritual Caster Feat which allows all classes to cast free magic options outside of battle without having to use a slot. Most are interesting or fun to use, but some things, like Longstrider, which increases your movement speed, can give you an advantage you can carry with you wherever you go.

A certain number of ritual spells can be cast by all classes in Baldur’s Gate 3, but they differ from class to class and subclass. With a well-balanced Baldur’s Gate 3 party, you should have a wide range of options, including Longstrider and Disguise Self, which can be cast by most characters, while Speak with the Dead is reserved for Clerics and Bards.

The Ritual Spells of Baldur’s Gate 3

In Baldur’s Gate 3, you can employ six ritual spells depending on the classes you have at your disposal:

  • Longstrider – Increases target movement by 3m and lasts until a long rest is taken.
  • Speak with the Dead – Answers five questions from any corpse with a mouth.
  • Find Familiar – Bring a familiar to fight against enemies.
  • Enhance Leap – Make your jumping distance triple for 10 turns
  • Disguise Self – Alter your appearance until you have rested for a considerable amount of time
  • Speak with Animals – You can communicate with animals until you rest for a long time

If a character has the Ritual Caster Feat, he or she can equip two ritual spells, depending on their class. In Baldur’s Gate 3, you can freely cast these spells, which can provide you with big advantages in certain situations. For example, using Longstrider, Enhance Leap and Find Familiar before you even start a battle can give you a huge advantage before anyone even looks at a dice roll. You can almost have most of the effects running in the background passively ‘just in case’ in Baldur’s Gate 3.
