Tecno unveils two new laptops this week to grab a bigger share of the laptop market: the Tecno Megabook T1 2023 14-inch and the Tecno Megabook S1 Dazzling Edition. While Tecno has launched more surprising and eye-catching laptops recently, including the Phantom V Fold, this year’s event in Berlin highlights a refreshed lineup.
A Smaller, Longer-Lasting Tecno Megabook T1 14”
The makers of the Megabook T1 wanted to make an even more portable version that retained the same great I/O and features. A smaller chassis would also mean a smaller battery, wouldn’t it?
The new T1 14″ will still have a thickness of 14.8, but it’s lighter at 1.39kg (vs 1.48kg) and has a 75Wh battery, which should provide 1 hour of extra runtime at 18.5 hours. The 65W GaN power adapter works for fast charging, too.
Despite the smaller 14″ display appearing unappealing, the T1 14″ has a 16:10 aspect ratio, a screen-to-body ratio of 90%, and 100%sRGB color. With its “premium aluminum metallic body,” it retains the Red Dot Design Award from last year, offering a great blend of portability, performance, and battery power.
The Dazzling Edition of the Tecno Megabook S1
TECNO showcased a “Dazzling” edition of the S1. This S1 Dazzling has a subtle tech/magic makeover on the top lid and wrist pad.
When exposed to UV light, the monochrome surface of the S1 can reveal colors thanks to polychromatic photoisomer. We saw “MEGABOOK S1” written in pixel font along the right side of the top lid after a UV flashlight was shone over the surface for a couple seconds. Tecno first introduced this technology on the Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition last year, now they’re expanding it to other devices.
Inside their booth presentation, the effect wasn’t as noticeable, but I think longer exposure to the sun would really bring it home. Also, while this is a concept product and prices haven’t been announced, we’re guessing that Techno wants its unique technology at an affordable price point. As with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, the S1 Dazzling Edition will likely find its audience just like the ROG Zephyrus G14 with its AniMe Matrix Display.
IFA 2023: Tecno’s New Laptops Dazzle
It’s always a good idea to check out IFA 2023 if you want to see the best new laptops throughout the year. Megabook sales have grown steadily since 2022, building on early 2023’s success. Tecno has a lot to show us in 2024, so we’re excited!
