You can use your PS5 without a controller if you don’t have one or don’t want to, but there are some ways you can.
You can take advantage of their unique strengths and weaknesses, but they’re not as easy as controllers. Explore PS5’s remote access options using many of these options. Other options include hardware alternatives.
Use the PlayStation App.
The PlayStation App lets you control your PS5 with your smartphone or tablet. To do this, connect your PS5 to the same Wi-Fi network as your device and open the PlayStation App. Then, select your PS5 and tap the “Remote Play” button. You can use the touchscreen controls on your device to navigate the PS5 interface and play games.
Use a mouse and keyboard.
You can also use a mouse and keyboard to control your PS5. To do this, connect a mouse and keyboard to your PS5 and then go to Settings > Accessibility > Controller > Button Assignments. Under “Device Type,” select “Mouse” or “Keyboard.” You can then assign keyboard shortcuts to different controller buttons.
Use the DualSense Gestures feature.
The DualSense controller has a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope that can be used to control the PS5 without pressing any buttons. To do this, go to Settings > Accessibility > Controller > DualSense Gestures. You can then enable the features you want to use, such as the touchpad swipe gestures and the motion sensor controls.
Use a third-party controller.
There are a number of third-party controllers that can be used with the PS5. These controllers often have more features than the DualSense controller, such as back buttons and paddles.
If you are unable to use a controller, you can still access some of the basic functions of the PS5 using the on-screen keyboard and touchpad. To do this, press the PS button and then select the “Keyboard” icon. You can then use the touchpad to type text and the on-screen buttons to navigate the menus.
