It appears that fans are beginning to believe Black and White remakes might be on the horizon after this week’s Pokemon Presents showcase.
There has been speculation among a number of Pokemon fans that a few clues about an upcoming remake of Pokemon Black and White could have been teased during yesterday’s presentation, as reported by VGC. As part of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet segment of the showcase, in which we saw more of the game’s upcoming DLC chapter The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, we were also introduced to Archaludon, the new evolution of Duraludon, which was also shown off in the trailer.
The curious thing about Archaludon is how much it resembles the Skyarrow Bridge – which is a landmark in the Unova region where Black and White is set – which is an important landmark in the game. Similarly, Twitter user @ActualAero points out that one of the new Elite Four members in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC, Drayton, seems to be linked to the Gym Leader from Pokemon Black and White, Drayden, who appears to be linked to one of the new Elite Four members.
It’s worth noting that we’re not saying that it’s just a coincidence, but it’s definitely something that needs to be taken with a grain of salt, at least for the time being. In spite of this, Game Freak’s creation of Pokemon is not the first time the developer has made subtle references to the future of the popular franchise in a game that it develops. Earlier in March of 2022, fans also noticed that Pokemon Sword and Shield appeared to feature several subtle hints at the yet to be announced Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that had yet to be announced.
In terms of what’s definitely in the works right now at The Pokemon Company, during the August 2023 Pokemon Presents showcase, we got a look at more of Detective Pikachu Returns, as well as got an update on Pokemon Go, Pokemon Unite, Pokemon Sleep, and Pokemon Cafe Remix, amongst others. It was perhaps most exciting to learn that the first installment of the Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Teal Mask, will be released on September 13 and the second part will be released by the end of the year.
