You must press each button below three paintings in a specific order to solve the Thorm Mausoleum puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3. The instructions for doing so can be found in a side chamber to the right of the main entrance, but if you get stuck, we have the answers right here. Follow these steps to find the Shar Temple in Baldur’s Gate 3 after solving the Thorm Mausoleum painting puzzle.
Solution to the Thorm Mausoleum painting puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Gauntlet of Shar is accessed by pressing a series of buttons beneath the three paintings in the back of the Thorm Mausoleum. An image shows a mighty king sitting upon a throne, another shows Moonrise Towers, and an image shows a grieving man beside a corpse. You should first disarm the traps around the tomb (you can use Astarion for this, if you are unfamiliar with traps and lockpicking), then solve the Thorm Mausoleum puzzle by pressing the buttons as follows:
- Button below the painting of Moonrise Towers (to your left as you enter the tomb)
- Button below the painting of the grieving man (to your right as you enter the tomb)
- Button below the painting of the man on a throne (on the back wall of the chamber)
Without disarming the traps, the entire room will be engulfed in thick black smoke, which will make it impossible for you to move around easily. It is also important to remember that the gargoyle heads shoot at you as well, so make sure you disarm those as well!
The puzzle has a tendency to bug itself sometimes, but if you keep going around and pressing the buttons in the order above until all the paintings glow blue and the wall to the right of the last painting moves away, a secret passage will appear. You have reached the end of the Thorm Mausoleum puzzle by entering the passage, taking the lift down, and completing the puzzle.
