Xbox Controller Light Brightness Adjustment
You can tell when your controller is on by the Xbox controller light. Default brightness is full. Xbox, however, has a built-in option for dimming or turning off the light of your controller if you need it.
Here’s how to adjust the Xbox controller’s light:
- Plug your Xbox controller in. Open the guide by pressing the Xbox button on your controller.
- Press A on your controller to navigate to the Profile & System tab and select Settings.
- Choose Night mode from General > TV & display options.
- The Controller brightness option is under Preferences. To change the brightness of the controller, select this and press A.
Make sure Customize brightness is checked to show the brightness slider. Slide the slider on the screen using the D-pad or left thumbstick to increase or decrease brightness. If you don’t like the bright light, slide the slider all the way to the left to turn it off.
When you’re happy with the brightness level, press B on your controller or select Home on the Xbox button. Alternately, go to Settings > Accessibility > Night mode > Controller brightness to view the brightness settings.
With Xbox controllers, the light adjusts automatically to the brightness you set. You might need to fix your Xbox controller if it’s blinking or not working properly.
Adjusting the Xbox Console Light Brightness
It’s possible to adjust the light on the power button on Xbox consoles, too. As far as the console light goes, it’s on full brightness. You can do this by adjusting the controller’s light:
- Night Mode is in Settings > General > TV & display options.
- Press A to turn on the power button brightness under Preferences.
- Make sure Customize brightness is checked. The console light’s brightness can be adjusted by dragging the slider. Console lights have only three brightness levels, unlike controllers, which have seven. It can be turned off, set to a 50% brightness level or turned up to 100%.
- With the left thumbstick, slide the slider left and right until the brightness level suits you. Once you’re done adjusting the brightness, exit the settings menu.
