God of War Ragnarok Shattered Runes Explained

God of War Ragnarok Shattered Runes are a common thing to find, but what you do with them isn’t especially clear at first. The reason is that you’re supposed to sell them to gain more Hacksilver as you journey through God of War Ragnarok – they’re a simple financial resource that you can sell at the Huldra Brothers’ shop. The Shattered Runes in God of War Ragnarok aren’t particularly exciting, but they’re useful, so here’s everything you need to know, including how to get them.

In God of War Ragnarok, what are Shattered Runes used for?

Besides being converted into Hacksilver, Shattered Runes serve no other purpose. That’s all. Simply navigate to the ‘Sell’ section of any Dwarf smith’s shop to sell your items. There is an option to exchange 50 Shattered Runes for 5,000 Hacksilver under resources. If you want to upgrade your armor, 5,000 Hacksilver is a great amount to acquire, but you probably won’t have that many Shattered Runes until quite a few hours into God of War Ragnarok.

Shattered Runes are only used for exchanging for Hacksilver, and there are no other uses available. Neither of these items has any use in crafting, and we’ve checked the upgrades for every weapon attachment, armor piece, and other upgrade in God of War Ragnarok – don’t hold onto them if you plan to upgrade the best armor in the game.

In God of War Ragnarok, how do you get Shattered Runes

Similarly to Hacksilver, Shattered Runes are a resource you tend to accumulate by accident in God of War Ragnarok. It doesn’t take much exploration, opening chests, and defeating enemies to find plenty of Shattered Runes, so you’ll practically be swimming in them by the end of the game. The following are all the ways we’ve found so far to obtain Shattered Runes:

  • Breaking objects: Broken pots, vases, floating barrels, and partially buried containers usually drop Hacksilver, but they are also capable of dropping Shattered Runes. When you’re walking, riding a sled, or in a boat, keep an eye out for them.

  • Treasure Maps: You can also earn Shattered Runes by digging up Treasure Maps and digging up their buried loot. You can find all Treasure Maps in God of War Ragnarok by checking out the Treasure Maps.
  • Defeating bosses: They often drop some Shattered Runes as part of their rewards. Following the fight, make sure you collect them.

It is important to note that Shattered Runes have no other application in the craft or upgrade of weapons or armor. To hold onto them for the sake of upgrading your armor to the top tier would be pointless. It would be best if you focused on converting them into Hacksilver as you go through the game to enhance your progress.
