Steam Summer sale 2023 offers any of these great games for only $2

As always, some of the best deals are to be found in the ultra-cheap $2 price range during the 2023 Steam Summer Sale.

After selecting a dozen $5 games you can get for the price of one new game, I delved into discount purgatory to find unbelievable deals on modern classics, underrated favorites, and little-known but highly rated gems. Since I’m rounding down here and two quarters are rarely a deal-breaker in my experience, I set the bar at $2.49 and after probably too much digging, I’ve come back to share my findings.

Here are 23 cool games available for less than two bucks in the Steam Summer Sale of 2023.

  • Don’t Starve – 75% off at $2.49: This survival crafting game has quietly pushed Klei Entertainment to the top of its game development game selection.
  • Dishonored – 75% off at $2.49: The stealth-action triumph that launched Bethesda’s renowned franchise. For $5, you can get the Definitive Edition with (mostly great) DLC.
  • Fallout: New Vegas – 75% off at $2.49: One of the best RPGs of all time, Fallout: New Vegas still holds its own against the best of the best.
  • To The Moon – Save 80% and get it at $1.99: An emotional narrative adventure you’ll never forget.
  • Inside – 91% off at $1.99: Playdead’s puzzle platformer returns to small-child territory with twisted twists and turns.
  • Psychonauts – 75% off at $2.49: One of the finest platformers ever released on PC. After the infamous cliffhanger ending, it’s even better since you can immediately go into the sequel.
  • Downwell – 67% off at $0.98: Every Steam Sale gives me an excuse to recommend Downwell, a hard-to-put-down roguelike about using gun boots to survive.
  • Deadbolt – 75% off at $2.49: Hopoo Games’ 2D stealth-action game before it became Risk of Rain.
  • Risk of Rain – 80% off at $1.99: The 2D roguelike that made Hopoo Games the Risk of Rain studio and eventually spawned an amazing 3D sequel – and a Gearbox remake soon to follow.
  • One Finger Death Punch 2 – 75% off at $1.99: A minimalist action game that retains the razor focus of the original but refines it further.
  • Super Kiwi 64 – 33% off at $2.00: You could send this 3D platformer back in time to the Nintendo 64 era without anyone noticing. Retro games don’t come more authentic than this.

  • FTL: Faster Than Light – 75% off at $2.49: Arguably the gold standard of spaceship roguelikes, FTL makes navigating randomly generated galaxies feel harrowing and thrilling.
  • Florence – 67% off at $1.97: A heartfelt narrative adventure that proves mobile games can be played on PC as well.
  • Steamworld Heist – 90% off at $1.49: A turn-based RPG in the stellar SteamWorld series that feels like XCOM from another planet.
  • Muse Dash – 85% off at $0.44: I’m not even sure how many hours diehard players have spent playing this iconic rhythm game.
  • Valve’s Orange Box – Get Half-Life 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 for just $1.99. Is there anything else to say?
  • Portal 2 – 90% off at $0.99: I’ve figured out what else I need to say. There’s nothing better than a buck and a Valve game in Portal 2.
  • Botanicula – 85% off at $2.24: One of Amanita’s best point-and-clicks.
  • Gato Roboto – 75% off at $1.99: This snacky Metroidvania is just as satisfying as its massive search-action cousins.
  • Akane – 75% off at $1.24: Immersed in neon and slick with rain, Akane is a stylish hack-and-slash set in Mega-Tokyo.
  • Hexologic – 80% off at $0.59: One of my all-time favorite puzzle games, with a disclaimer that I am an arithmetic nerd.
  • The Swapper – 85% off at $2.24: This 2D puzzle game is set in space’s bowels. There were a lot of people who did it, but not enough.
  • Dwarf Journey – 75% off at $1.74: An engrossing upgrade system and gorgeous aesthetic make it one of the best roguelite platformers around.
