Fortnite Marksman Rifle: What Is It and Where Can You Get It

Fortnite Marksman Rifle Damage Method

With a Fortnite Marksman Rifle, you can deal damage over an extended range without constantly reloading in the battle royale. This makes it an extremely useful tool. Those who can master them can save themselves an inventory slot since they do not need to carry both an assault rifle and a sniper rifle to achieve the same outcome.

One of Fortnite’s quests requires you to use this gun to deal damage to opponents at least 75m away. This is making Fortnite players confused as the weapon ‘Marksman Rifle’ isn’t available in battle royale. If you spend your time looking for something like that, you’re more likely to come up empty-handed or choose another weapon that doesn’t fit the bill. We’re here to help, so keep reading to find out what the Fortnite Marksman Rifle is, and how to use it.

The Fortnite Marksman Rifle

A Fortnite Marksman Rifle is a specific type of gun that combines the rapid firepower of an assault rifle with the range of a sniper rifle, allowing you to take much more shots before reloading in exchange for the higher power you get from a sniper rifle. Currently, Fortnite only has one weapon in this category, the Cobra DMR, which recently replaced the standard DMR and is found as floor loot or in chests, including the Holo Chests.

We’ve checked and confirmed that the Hunter Bolt-Action Sniper does not count towards damage dealt with a Fortnite Marksman Rifle, nor does the Boom Sniper Rifle you can purchase for 600 bars from Rustler (one of the Fortnite characters) near Grim Gables, so you shouldn’t use those weapons for this quest. The next step is to find and equip a Cobra DMR.

Marksman Rifle Damage From 75M Away in Fortnite

As the Cobra DMR has a mid-range zoom scope, you can see the target area ahead of you a bit better when you aim with it. When you aim (or just look) in front of you, and tap left on the D-pad, you’ll drop a marker that shows the range next to it, telling you how far away it is. You can then calculate how far away an enemy is and if your damage will count towards the quest based on this distance.

You can target your opponent for this quest by listening for gunfire from players fighting with each other, then taking the high ground nearby and watching them through your scope. Once you have one in your sights, keep blasting them and don’t worry too much about finesse – the Fortnite Marksman Rifle does not have the devastating headshot power of a sniper, and body hits count significantly towards the total you’re trying to achieve, so just land as many shots as you can and you’ll be on your way to completing the quest.
