The boss fight known as the Seized Construct in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is a peculiar encounter within the game. It involves Link controlling the newly-built Mineru construct to defeat an imitation controlled by Ganon and the Gloom. The battle takes place in a makeshift boxing arena with electric walls, where the use of traditional weaponry is not a viable option. This can be a confusing situation, leaving players feeling unprepared. However, fear not, as we have successfully conquered this challenge and emerged as the ringmaster, defeating the formidable “Scourge of the Spirit Temple.” In this guide, we will provide you with strategies, weaknesses, and tips on how to overcome the Seized Construct in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
How to Beat the Seized Construct Boss Fight in the Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
To defeat the Seized Construct boss fight in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you need to navigate through two phases of the battle. Although the objective remains the same in both phases, the behavior and combat style of the boss change. Here are the fundamental aspects of the boss fight.
- You cannot dismount from the Mineru Construct during the fight against the Seized Construct. The arena floor is covered in Gloom, making it necessary for you to remain on Mineru’s shoulders and rely on her abilities, some of which you may still be getting accustomed to.
- The Seized Construct can only be damaged by being knocked into the walls of the arena. Your attacks will not directly harm the Seized Construct, but you can push it back. If you successfully hit it into the wall, it will take damage.
- Typically, it takes three hits to push the Seized Construct back. To accomplish this, you need to quickly execute a series of actions. The first hit will stun the boss, the second hit will knock it to its knees, and the third hit will send it skidding backward. These hits must be done rapidly before the Seized Construct can recover.
- Utilize your Guard power effectively. Due to the Mineru Construct’s slow movement, relying more on your Guard or Shield power instead of dodging is advisable. When the Construct strikes your shield, it will be momentarily staggered, providing you with an opportunity to counterattack if you act swiftly.
- There are weapons available to attach in the corners of the arena. Mineru’s construct requires these weapons for augmentation. Various fusion devices can be found in the ring’s corners. Quickly grab them before the Seized Construct can reach you, as they will aid you in preparing for the fight.
Considering everything mentioned earlier, let’s now delve into particular strategies and vulnerabilities.
Phase 1
The first half of the boss fight has the Seized Construct move simply, usually marching straight at you and doing some sort of melee attack. Here’s the process we found was most effective:
- Immediately equip a spiked iron ball to one hand, and a cannon to the other.
- Keeping a safe distance, shoot the Seized Construct with the cannon.
- This will stun it – run in and wallop it with the iron ball to knock it back for actual damage.
- Repeat this process until phase 2 (50% health).
Although it may sound straightforward, controlling Mineru’s construct can be more challenging than expected, especially when it comes to aiming the cannon. Many players are still in the process of grasping the finer details, and hitting the construct back doesn’t always propel it far enough to reach the edges of the arena.
Phase 2
The second phase commences with a cutscene where the construct develops new limbs, resulting in more aggressive behavior and intricate attack patterns. Nonetheless, the fundamental approach mentioned earlier should still be effective, albeit with one significant difference: you’ll need to be more cautious in choosing the opportune moment, given the construct’s elaborate attacks and its utilization of a shield.
It is crucial to avoid engaging in melee attacks when the construct’s shield is active. Striking it during this time will result in being stunned and exposed to a counter-attack. It is important to exercise patience and carefully select the right moment to strike, waiting for the shield to dissipate. Impatience is highly discouraged in this situation.
Rewards
As for the rewards, there is one granted for this battle, and you technically already have it—the Mineru Construct. From now on, it will accompany you permanently, similar to the other sages, and you can equip parts to enhance their abilities, following the same method you’ve been using thus far. Furthermore, if you desire to upgrade the construct, we recommend locating all the Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Sage’s Wills, which provide permanent buffs to your sage companions.
