Acquiring the King’s Mark in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom revolves around obtaining a set of scales from King Dorephan, the Zora monarch. To begin, one must venture to the Ploymus Mountain Cave, situated beneath a waterfall near the Zora Domain. There, King Dorephan awaits, ready to bestow five scales that will prove valuable in your journey.
The Mark of the King holds great significance within the Clues to the Sky main mission, as it acts as a crucial component to unlocking access to the fish island. Solving the enigmatic riddle tied to the Zelda Tears of the Kingdom natural phenomenon, situated within Zora’s Domain, becomes intertwined with the acquisition of the Mark. Below, we’ll delve into locating King Dorephan to receive the Mark of the King and utilizing it effectively to reach the Floating Scales Island in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
How to Get the Mark of the King in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Contrary to its name, the Mark of the King is not a symbol but rather a scale obtained from King Dorephan, the Zora ruler. These unique scales grow on the foreheads of all Zora kings, as King Dorephan himself will explain when you locate him in the Ploymus Mountain Cave. To facilitate your search, we have conveniently marked the cave’s location on the map provided. Look for a sizable crevice on the left side of the waterfall between Lulu Lake and Mikau Lake. Equipping the Zora armor specific to Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will prove advantageous for accessing the cave. Utilizing the waterfall behind the Zora Domain and swimming up it is the most efficient route to reach the Ploymus Mountain Cave.
How to Use the Mark of the King at Floating Scales Island
Once you possess the Mark of the King in your inventory, your next objective is to reach the Floating Scales Island. The island, resembling a fish, can be easily accessed from the Ihen-A Shrine located atop Mount Ploymus. Look for a waterfall that forms a “bridge” behind Mipha Court, which will be clearly visible. Equipped with your Zora armor, leap and glide towards the waterfall, then swim upwards.
After safely landing on the island, position yourself along the right edge while standing on the second level. From this vantage point, observe the floating debris in front of you. Carefully move backward or forward until you find a spot where some of the debris aligns to form the shape of a water droplet when viewed from a specific angle.
Now is the perfect opportunity to utilize your Mark of the King. Equip your Zelda Tears of the Kingdom bow, affix a scale to an arrow, and aim directly through the tear-shaped opening. By doing so, a radiant beam of light will emanate above the nearby reservoir. Subsequently, return to Jiahto, the quest-giver for Clues to the Sky, and engage in a conversation. This marks the completion of the mission, enabling you to investigate the phenomenon alongside Prince Sidon.
