PlayStation 5 Size: What’s It Like?

PS5 is big, but how much space does it take up? Size matters when it comes to how well a system fits in your media center, so know how big the PS5 is before you buy it. You can get an idea of how big the PS5 is by comparing it to some other consoles.

PS5 Dimensions: How Big Is It?

Sony says the PlayStation 5 looks like this when it’s standing up:

  • Size is 15.4″ tall by 10.24″ deep by 4.1″ wide.

This is how they’re measured in metric:

  • 340mm tall, 260mm wide, 104mm deep.

PS5 digital-only editions are thinner. Instead of 3.6 inches (92mm), it’s 3.6 inches (92mm).

It’s not perfect, but it’s close. It’s hard to measure the PS5’s size because it has so many curved surfaces. You can hold your PS5 vertically or horizontally with a stand that’s detachable, but it’s strongly recommended for stability. It’s been two years since the PS5 was released, but neither one changed its size. Inside, everything’s been improved.

PlayStation 5 Weight: How Much Is It?

The weight of the PlayStation 5 is another important spec. The console’s size makes sense, so it’s hefty. Standard edition PS5 weights 9.9 pounds (4.5kg). PS5 weighs 8.6 pounds (3.9kg) with digital only. It’s lighter thanks to slight revisions to the newer PS5. Compared to the digital PS5, the standard 2021 PS5 weighs 7.9 pounds (3.6 kg).

Compared to the standard PS5, the 2022 PS5 revision weighs 8.6 pounds (3.9 kg) and 7.5 pounds (3.4 kg).

PlayStation 5 vs. Other Consoles: How Does It Compare?

From that, it’s clear that the PS5 is the biggest PlayStation yet. In addition, it’s a little bigger than other comparable consoles. Taking the PS4 Pro as an example, it’s 11.6 inches wide by 2.17 inches high by 12.9 inches deep. This is a 295mm by 55mm by 327mm. There’s also a 3.3kg weight to it.

One of the PS5’s main competitors is the Xbox Series X. With dimensions of 5.9 inches wide by 5.9 inches deep by 11.9 inches tall (151mm wide by 151mm deep by 301mm tall), the Series X weighs 9.8 pounds (4.4kg).

PlayStation 5 Is Big

Your new PS5 will look like this when it comes out of the box. You’ll need more space in your setup for this console, since it’s a hefty thing. Sony’s slimmer revision of the system will eventually come out that reduces its bulk a lot.

The PS5 isn’t going to break anytime soon, so enjoy it while it lasts.
