Having the knowledge of cultivating mandrakes in Hogwarts Legacy can serve multiple purposes, such as helping with two assignments from Professor Garlick and enabling the learning of spells like Wingardium Leviosa and Flippendo. Additionally, mandrakes can be used as a weapon during combat, functioning similarly to a stun grenade.
Undoubtedly, mandrakes in Hogwarts Legacy offer practical benefits. While the usefulness of spells is evident, the concept of a magical stun grenade may seem strange, but it can come in handy when dealing with chaos and requiring some breathing space. There are three methods to acquire mandrakes in the game, and we will explore each one.
1. You can buy Mandrakes from vendors
In Hogwarts Legacy, Mandrakes are available for purchase from certain vendors, but not all of them. The most reliable place to find them is Dogweed and Deathcap in Hogsmeade, which is located at the northern edge of the town and indicated by a mushroom symbol.
Additionally, you may come across temporary vendors around Hogwarts that sell Mandrakes. These vendors will appear on your mini-map as you approach them, and will be represented by an icon resembling a stack of coins. As you fly around, be sure to keep a lookout for these vendors.
2. Grow your own Mandrakes
In order to grow your own Mandrakes in Hogwarts Legacy, there are three essential requirements you’ll need to fulfill.
The first requirement to grow Mandrakes in Hogwarts Legacy is to have access to the Room of Requirement. Once you have access, you can conjure a herbology table with a small pot to start planting. The second requirement is to purchase Mandrake Seeds from Dogweed and Deathcap in Hogsmeade. To improve your yield, you can also buy fertilizer from another shop in Hogsmeade.
Alternatively, if you prefer, you can use your Mandrake seeds in the Herbology classroom at the assigned small pot bench. It’s important to note that you won’t need large pots for this activity, but if you have any questions about other pot sizes, feel free to ask.
3. Find Mandrakes in the Forbidden Forest
In case you’re not interested in purchasing or cultivating Mandrakes while playing Hogwarts Legacy, it’s possible to locate them in a handful of restricted areas within the Forbidden Forest.
The map displayed above shows the prime location, which is a small dwelling with a tree in front of it and a dead body situated behind it.
Adjacent to the lifeless body, there are three Mandrakes that you can gather. It’s worth noting that these Mandrakes will regrow, so if you require one urgently in the future, you can revisit the same spot.
