Final Fantasy IX comes with built-in cheats, or boosters as they’re sometimes known, for PlayStation 4. The cheats, just like with the current-gen re-release of Final Fantasy VII, make the game easier in a variety of different ways. You may find them useful if you’re stuck in a boss fight or if you just want to breeze through the story without grinding for experience points or abilities. Here’s a quick guide on how to activate the cheats and how they work.
Final Fantasy IX PS4 Pause Screen Cheats
Hit the options button during gameplay and you’ll see four cheats at the bottom right of your screen. The game’s first set of cheats can be found on the pause screen. By pressing the corresponding buttons, you can toggle cheats on and off the pause screen at any time, and you can activate multiple cheats at once on the pause screen. The pause screen cheats are as follows:

High-Speed Mode
How to use it: Press R1 while on the pause screen.
What it does: High-Speed Mode is exactly what it sounds like it speeds up all gameplay significantly by playing in fast forward.

Safe Travel
How to use it: Press R2 while on the pause screen.
What it does: When Safe Travel is enabled, all random battles are disabled.

Battle Assistance
How to use it: Press L1 while on the pause screen.
What it does: Battle Assistance basically makes combat much easier. All party members’ ATB gauges fill instantly, so you don’t have to wait in between turns, and your health points and magic points stay replenished. Additionally, you can enter trance mode at will, allowing your characters to be significantly boosted.

How to use it: Press L2 while on the pause screen.
What it does: Enabling 9999 increases your attacks’ damage to 9999 and restores 9999 health points with healing magic and healing items.
Final Fantasy IX PS4 Config Menu Cheats
The second set of cheats is found in the config menu. Hit the triangle to open up the main menu and scroll down to config. Three cheats are located under the booster subheading.
In contrast to the cheats on the pause screen, the cheats on the configuration menu cannot be disabled once they have been activated. If you save your game after activation, it will be permanently enabled. The cheats for the configuration menu are as follows:

Lv/Mag Stone Max
How to use it: Select Lv/Mag Stone Max from the config menu.
What it does: Your party members will be level 99 instantly, and you will have 99 magic stones.

Gil Max
How to use it: Select Gil Max from the config menu.
What it does: When activated, Gil Max gives you the maximum amount of Gil.

Master Abilities
How to use it: Select Master Abilities from the config menu.
What it does: Enabling Master Abilities allows your party to instantly learn and master equipment abilities. However, this only applies to equipment in your inventory. The cheat allows you to learn any associated abilities instantly when you pick up the equipment while it is enabled.
