Using the Follower Comms wheel, you can give a command to a hired Specialist Character in Fortnite.
You can gain a competitive edge in Fortnite if you know how to give your hired Specialist a command. This turns him into an asset you can deploy tactically. You can use Fortnite commands to direct a specialist to keep an eye on you while you move around. You can also tell them to stay and protect a particular area while you move on, providing much more flexibility than simply following you around. As part of one of the Spring Breakout Fortnite quests, you need to give this instruction, leading to renewed interest in the process. I’ll show you how to do it below.
Hire a Fortnite Specialist
We have marked the locations of eight of Fortnite’s current Specialists on the map above. When you get close to one, an icon will appear on your minimap and be projected on a screen. This will help you locate a specialist. They are available for hire when you approach them, and you can use 250 bars to hire them to fight with you. If another player has already hired or eliminated the Specialist, you’ll need to look elsewhere.
How to Command a Hired Specialist in Fortnite
Using the Follower Comms wheel in Fortnite, you can give a hired Specialist a command by holding left on the d-pad. After opening it, you can choose one of four options:
- Wait – Specialists will stay in their current position
- Move – The specialist will immediately run to the targeted position
- Follow – Specialists will follow you (default behavior)
- Revive – Specialists will revive a downed teammate (where available)
If you select one of those for the first time, you’ll complete the quest ‘Give a hired Specialist Character a command’. Move can be used to send your Specialist ahead to scout – opponents who spot them will likely open fire on them, which will reveal their location and distract them while you sneak in for a sneak attack.
