What Is the Fortnite Siphon Augment and How Do You Use It

How Siphon Affects Fortnite Augments

An augment called Fortnite Siphon grants a player restored health when they deal damage, or shields if they’re already at maximum health. The Siphon effect will be triggered by Fortnite Augments, but it’s a good effect regardless. Particularly for aggressive players or those who are in low health frequently. Here’s a closer look at Fortnite Siphon Augments, and what you can find in the game at the moment as a result.

The Fortnite Siphon

With the Fortnite Siphon, dealing damage or getting eliminations with a certain Augment grants the player health or a shield. It’s similar to “life steal” effects in certain games, but the amount restored doesn’t change depending on how much damage you do – for instance, a bullet that does 100 damage and a bullet that does 10 both restore the same amount of health or shield.

It’s important to clarify that this is different from older versions of the Siphon mechanic, which were dependent on kills rather than simply damage. From what we’ve seen, it’s just about wounding an enemy – you don’t need to kill them to restore defense and health. Due to some technical errors, we are unsure if that will remain the case for the time being.

A Siphon can be obtained through these two Augments:

  • Shotgun Striker: Your shotgun fire will give you a siphon effect upon hitting opponents.
  • Rarity Check: Get Siphon after eliminating an enemy with a common or uncommon weapon.

Right now, however, it appears that the Shotgun Striker Augment has been disabled (thanks, HYPEX), due to a bug in which it didn’t work on enemies, but also allies – meaning you could repeatedly hurt your friends while healing yourself. Sorry about that. It’s not clear when it’ll return, but it shouldn’t be long.
