How to Unlock Hogwarts Legacy Level 1 Locks and Collect Extraordinary Gear

Alohomora Unlocks Level 1 Doors and Strong Forms

By cracking Hogwarts Legacy’s level 1 lock, you’ll unlock new areas of the game. These areas include sealed rooms in the castle to private abodes in the Highlands. You’ll need to learn the spell Alohomora to break these locks. Since level 1, 2, and 3 locked doors are scattered everywhere, you’ll want to learn the spell as soon as possible. Nevertheless, it’s a matter of waiting until you reach a certain point in the story before doing it.

There is a wealth of useful gear in these locked rooms, just like in the Hogwarts Legacy eyeball chests and other boxes you can unlock. During Gladwyn Moon’s main mission quest, you’ll learn the spell Alohomora, one of the most useful Hogwarts Legacy spells. However, Alohomora won’t help you with those tricky puzzle doors in Hogwarts Legacy. It’s a whole other issue.

Getting Level 1 Locks Unlocked in Hogwarts Legacy

A mission named The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament in the main questline reveals that Alohomora can open level 1 locks. You will be summoned by caretaker Gladwyn Moon once you have progressed far enough through the story and instructed to retrieve two Hogwarts Legacy demiguise statues, enchanted objects Gladwyn suspects are planted around to frighten him.

As soon as Gladwyn shows you Alohomora, you’re ready to unlock the Level One door ahead of you and reach the Statues. It won’t take up any space in your Hogwarts Legacy spell slots, so you won’t have to swap it out regularly, just use it as you have been instructed.

When you are willing to search Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the surrounding areas for the statues, Gladwyn will teach you more advanced forms of Alohomora that open level 2 and 3 locks.

Using Alohomora to Open Locks

The goal of unlocking the Level One door with Alohomora is to turn the outer and inner dials until they make a smooth, uninterrupted mechanical whirring sound. This is to indicate their position. A console or PC player can turn the dials using their joysticks, while a PC player should use the Q, E, A, and D keys. You might need to fine-tune the dials with smaller movements or sounds to get them exactly right, so pay attention to small movements or sounds. Your Hogwarts Legacy gear slots will quickly fill up if you don’t upgrade them!
