Guide to Covenants in Dark Souls Remastered

In Dark Souls Remastered, players can join unique groups and religions called Covenants, each with their own benefits and prerequisites, which typically affect player vs player (PvP) battles. The latest version of the game allows players to change their Covenant affiliation at bonfires, which increases their flexibility in choosing which group to join and for how long they want to remain a member.

Chaos Servant

How to join:

To join the Covenant, you’ll need to speak with Quelaag’s Sister, who is situated beyond a destructible wall in the tower that leads to the Demon Ruins. After defeating Chaos Witch Quelaag, you’ll find a concealed path to the right of the entrance to the Demon Ruins. However, to converse with Quelaag’s Sister and join the Covenant, you must equip the Old Witch’s Ring. This ring can be obtained by selecting it as a gift at the start of the game, or it can be acquired by having Hawk Girl transform a Sunlight Maggot into the ring.

Benefits:

Blade of the Darkmoon

How to join:

To become a member of the Blade of the Darkmoon Covenant, you’ll need to get your hands on the Darkmoon Seance Ring located in the Catacombs. After equipping the ring, make your way back to Anor Londo. You’ll need to lower the rotating bridge to its lowest point to reach the Darkmoon Tomb. Once inside, locate the prayer mat and kneel before it to join the Covenant. However, be careful not to pass through the white light gate, as doing so will initiate a boss battle with Dark Sun Gwyndolin and cause you to lose the opportunity to join the Covenant.

Benefits:

Darkwraith

How to join:

To encounter Darkstalker Kaathe in the Abyss and engage with him, you’ll need to defeat the Four Kings either prior to acquiring the Lordvessel or before it is deposited at the Firelink Altar.

Benefits:

Forest Hunter

How to join:

To join the Covenant, you need to have a conversation with Alvina of the Darkroot. This feline creature can be located lounging in the window of the building that leads to the path of Great Grey Wolf Sif in Darkroot Garden. Once you’ve joined the Covenant, make sure not to attack any NPCs within the forest, or it will result in the Covenant breaking.

Benefits:

Gravelord Servant

How to join:

Joining this Covenant will establish a pact with Gravelord Nito, one of the Lord demons. To initiate the process, you’ll need to have an Eye of Death in your inventory. You can either purchase one from Patches in the Tomb of the Giants for 3,000 souls or locate them in the Catacombs and Tomb of the Giants. Once you have an Eye of Death, head into the Catacombs and look for a large room containing numerous coffins. Near a headless demon, you’ll see one coffin that protrudes from the wall more than the others. Examine the coffin and lie down in it. After 30 seconds, you’ll be transported to the Altar of the Gravelord. Pray at Nito’s coffin to join the Covenant.

Benefits:

Path of the Dragon

How to join:

To join this Covenant, you’ll need to talk to the Stone Dragon located in Ash Lake. To reach Ash Lake, you must first navigate through The Great Hollow, which is a concealed area within Blight Town. In the Blight Town swamp, you’ll come across a large, hollow tree. Inside the tree is a concealed wall that leads to a chest. Behind the chest, there’s another hidden wall, which leads to The Great Hollow. Traverse through The Great Hollow safely until you reach Ash Lake. The Stone Dragon can be found at the end of the beach in Ash Lake.

Benefits:

Passive: Can use the Dragon Eye to invade the games of other players who have a Dragon Scale in their possession. Killing these players lets you steal their Dragon Scales. Equipping the Dragon Head Stone and Dragon Torso Stone allows you to transform into a dragon and use powerful magic abilities.

Princess’s Guard

How to join:

Once you have obtained the Lordvessel, head to Anor Londo and speak with Gwynevere to join this Covenant.

Benefits:

Warrior of Sunlight

How to join:

To join this Covenant, you’ll need to visit the Sunlight Altar once your Faith stat has reached level 50. The Sunlight Altar can be found in the area beyond the bridge in Undead Burg where the red dragon used to perch.
