Best Places to Build Your Base in Smalland: Survive the Wilds
It is possible to settle down in dozens of places in Smalland, but not all of them are safe. It’s generally not a good idea to build your base on the ground if you’re trying to avoid predators, especially if you’re new to the game. You shouldn’t build ground bases if you can avoid it, but it isn’t necessarily a bad idea.
It is recommended that you build your base in a Great Tree in Smalland to ensure its safety. Bases can be built using Great Trees, which are special trees in the game! Great Trees are easy to identify because they’re massive and have tons of mushrooms growing on their trunks. Additionally, each Great Tree will have a Gnome Effigy. When you interact with this Gnome Effigy, you will be able to claim the tree as your own!
You’ll be safe from predators if you build your base in these huge trees, especially from nocturnal insects that attack at night. There are elevators (yes, elevators!) at the top of every Great Tree, so getting into and out of your base is both efficient and fun! Your base in Smalland should be built under Great Trees.
What are the best places to build in a great tree?
Even though Great Trees are massive, surely there are only a few suitable spots where you can build a base? That’s not true! It is almost impossible to build in these trees because they are so massive! A large, flat area at the top of the tree allows you to build a base, but you aren’t limited to this area.
The base can be built in the flat center of the tree or on any branch. The base can even be built at the base of the tree if you really want, but you won’t be as protected from predators (and you won’t be able to use the balloon elevator).
A great tree is a great place to build your base
Aside from being useful for building bases in Smalland, Great Trees have many other advantages. Insect protection is another great advantage of Great Tree bases, but there are still many more!
When you claim a Great Tree for yourself (by talking to the Gnome Effigy at its base), you own it. If you invite some of your friends to your kickass treehouse, they won’t be able to open your doors, interact with your workstations, or, most importantly, loot your stuff.
In Smalland, Great Trees are literally the safest places to build your base from predators and other players. If you trust your friends, you can make your tree public even though it is private by default.
Furthermore, bases made in Great Trees can be moved easily. You will automatically lose your base inside your Great Tree if you unclaim it. But don’t worry! It isn’t gone! The second you claim another Great Tree, your base and everything inside of it will reappear. It’s so easy to move bases with this awesome feature!
