This is the year of our lord 2022, one of the most amazing years of our lives as we have launched Skyrim: Anniversary Edition on the Epic Games Store.
Clearly, you must have heard by now that Skyrim: Anniversary Edition adds a lot more content to the base game, including updated graphics, faster loading times, the three Skyrim DLC packs, a survival mode, a fishing minigame, and a huge variety of Creator Club content. In November 2021, the game was released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, as well as PC via Steam. More recently, it has been brought to Switch and has been made available on GOG.com as a proper retro game. As of today, the game is also available for download on the Epic Games Store.
Those who were startled by Skyrim: Anniversary Edition’s $70 price on the Nintendo Switch eShop shouldn’t worry, the game is actually available from the Epic Games Store for $50, which is a much more agreeable price when compared to the Nintendo Switch eShop. Having said that, this might still seem like a lot to pay for something that came out 11 years ago, but if you’re a big fan of the game and don’t already have it, then the Anniversary Edition might be worth it if you haven’t already got it. In addition to that, if you already own the Special Edition, you can upgrade to the Anniversary Edition for free to get all the key features that the Special Edition comes with.
According to Screen Rant, Skyrim has been launched a total of 17 times on 10 different platforms in the past few years, which must be some sort of record, so I won’t even bother counting how many times it has been released and re-released by now. Considering that old release cadence is setting the pace, its only a matter of time before Elder Scrolls 6 launches and re-launches well into the next millennium if it maintains the same pace.
