Hogwarts Legacy fans are doing everything they can to speed up the game, including spoofing their locations.
According to several posts on the Hogwarts Legacy subreddit(opens in new tab), players are trying to play the game as soon as possible by changing their console’s location to New Zealand. In New Zealand, those who pre-ordered the digital deluxe version of Hogwarts Legacy on PS5 or Xbox Series X can play the game at midnight (local time) on February 7.
Posts in the subreddit are mostly from future players sending well wishes(opens in new tab) to those in New Zealand about to experience Hogwarts Legacy for the first time. Players from other parts of the world are admitting to changing the location of their Xbox consoles or creating new PSN accounts based in New Zealand just so they wouldn’t have to wait those extra few hours in the comments.
PC players are having to wait even longer until the 72-hour early access period starts. The global release time (for early access) will begin on PC on February 7 at 10AM PT / 1PM ET / 9PM GMT, 21 hours after console players.
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC players should be happy. Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch players will have to wait an additional few months before they can play – the previous generation version will be available in April and the Nintendo Switch version in July. Check out our Hogwarts Legacy early access guide to find out exactly when you can play.
