Hogwarts Legacy Features Shiny and Rare Versions of Creatures

The Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy functions as a sanctuary for your animals. While you can tame a lot of creatures, most of them will be the regular variant with maybe a slight difference in color. Here’s how you can find rare Shiny Beasts for your Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy.

Shiny Beasts: How to spawn them

The trick to getting a Shiny Beast in Hogwarts Legacy is making them spawn in the first place. This is completely random, and it can be quite a hassle. As such, your best bet is to do the following:

– The first step is to find a particular beast and go to its den. You usually won’t find a shiny one there.

– You can catch several Shinies even if you don’t see a Shiny. Puffskein and Mooncalf dens tend to have four or more animals lounging around.

– Once you’ve collected several or even all of them, open your map and press the button prompt to change the day-night cycle (the “F” key for PC players).

– You can then manually save your game.

– Then click restart from the last save.

When the day-night cycle is combined with saving and reloading, the game will replace missing creatures with Shiny Beasts.

Make Shinies appear more often by using the creature respawn trick.

How do Shiny Beasts look?

So, how exactly do you distinguish Hogwarts Legacy Shiny Beasts from regular variants? Most of the time, they have a star icon on their nameplate, and they usually come in different colors. Shiny Puffskeins, for instance, have white fur, while most Puffskeins are gray, brown, black, or red.

The shiny icon can also be seen in your Inventory: Magical Beasts tab. While breeding animals is feasible in the game, we have yet to see a shiny variant of an offspring.

To denote their rarity, Shiny Beasts have a star icon and a vastly different color.

Problems that may arise

The trick described above works for all Beast Dens in Hogwarts Legacy, but it might be difficult to obtain Shiny Beasts for the following types:

Unicorn – In the game, there is only one unicorn den, which only spawns once per day. We did make our luck with the Shiny variant, which has a golden brown color.

Phoenix – Phoenixes that you can tame are one of a kind, and will not spawn again.

Graphorn – While the Graphorn will spawn again in its den, capturing it with the Nab-sack requires defeating it first.

Graphorns do respawn, but it requires a new fight to trigger a variant reroll. Due to this, we have yet to see a shiny version of the Magical Beast.
