It’s not easy to do Returnal cheats – and is there anything about the game that’s easy? It’s worth setting them up if you’re having trouble with Housemarque’s robust and rich roguelike. Using the right codes, players can get a big boost when dealing with the horrors of Atropos and move around the map effectively. Although the game isn’t technically supposed to have this feature, players have discovered that there is a hidden developer debug option that would normally not be available.
It comes with a couple of catches – first, you’ll need a USB keyboard that can connect to your PS5. Second, and more problematically, these keyboard cheats have been removed entirely after the Returnal 1.3.4 update! This should still work, however, if you are playing an unpatched version of the game. This is how you can activate Returnal cheats if you can set them up.
How To Use Returnal Cheats
It is necessary to connect your PS5’s keyboard via USB first before you can access the Returnal cheats. Once your console recognizes this added input, you will be able to use various combinations of buttons in-game to debug various issues. On your keyboard, you can enter these Returnal cheats:
Hold Shift, Control, & Alt, then press a number from 1 to 0
You will be able to choose from a variety of weapons based on your current weapon proficiency level.
Hold Shift & Control, then press 4
The game will respawn you on the ship at the start of biome 1, restoring your health, items, adrenaline level, and weapons proficiency.
Hold Shift & Control, then press 8
By doing this, you will respawn in biome 3 with the same level of health, items, adrenaline, and weapon proficiency as before.
When holding Shift & Control, do not press 3 or 7 as it will crash your game
When Shift & Control are held, the other numbers do nothing.
Returnal cheats, particularly the ship respawn in biome 1, allow you to keep repeating the loop between the beginning of the game and the shop. This allows you to keep upgrading your weapons and stocking up on items until you feel ready to run.
Unless you’ve already beaten the game, don’t use the ship respawn cheat after biome 3 or during biome 4, otherwise, you’ll be stuck in biome 1 without any way out.
