The Witcher Co-op Might Be on the Way

It appears that an upcoming Witcher game will feature elements of both co-op and PvE, if a new job listing is to be believed.

It was spotted first by RockPaperShotgun that The Molasses Flood, developer behind the new Witcher game codenamed Project Sirius, has posted a new job listing on their website(opens in new tab). This is a role requiring a senior multiplayer designer, and the company is primarily looking for someone who has experience developing PvE games.

As part of The Molasses Flood’s ongoing search for a game designer, they are also looking for someone with experience making co-op games. Consequently, it has been suggested that the new Witcher game will lean heavily on the multiplayer and co-op aspects of gameplay when it finally launches when it comes to the game.

In case you were wondering, this is not the fourth installment of The Witcher. It was confirmed by CD Projekt that Project Sirius would be a major departure for The Witcher series as a whole, even going so far as to confirm the game would contain multiplayer elements in its announcement, when the project was first revealed as being in development at The Molasses Flood.

Originally created in 2014 by BioShock and Halo veterans, The Molasses Flood was the first to release The Flame in the Flood in 2016 and Drake Hollow four years later in 2020. The intention was for CD Projekt to take over the Boston-based studio in 2021, and to make it responsible for developing a new Witcher spinoff game that is entirely different from The Witcher 4 and The Witcher 1, as well as a remake of The Witcher 1.

The Molasses Flood’s new Witcher game is still quite a few years away from release, but at least we’ve now been given a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming game thanks to this exclusive trailer.
