Review of the HP 930 Creator Wireless Mouse

Want to change your mouse at work? While Logitech is probably the first thing that comes to mind, HP actually makes some great PC accessories. Our favorite work mouse, the Logitech MX Master 3, gets a run for its money with the HP 930 Creator Wireless Mouse.

In silver instead of black, the HP 930 Creator looks like the Logitech MX Master 3. With a thumb rest for right-handers, it’s asymmetrical. It works on glass and fabric, too. It weighs about the same as its Logitech rival. I think it’s a bit heavy for gamers, especially FPS shooters and MOBAs. The 930 is fine for the office, however. Particularly since it has 10 buttons, seven of which can be programmed using HP’s Accessory Center. Scrolling horizontally is possible with its scroll wheel. Additionally, it has two scrolling options – a smooth scroll and a segmented scroll. You can toggle between them by pressing the button below the scroll wheel. The scroll wheel feels a little loose, and jiggles a little bit.

The HP 930 Creator can connect to multiple devices via Bluetooth or 2.4GHz USB-A. By pressing a button on the side, you can switch between paired devices. You can also swipe to the corner or side of your workspace to switch computers. You can stow the dongle inside the mouse – a magnet holds it in place. The HP Accessory Center lets you configure edge gestures like programmable buttons. You can customize a lot with this app. Depending on the app, you can bind certain keys for specific tasks. For VLC media player, I can assign Play/Pause to a specific button. Pressing this button in the browser takes me back to the previous page instead. I think you get it.
