Although Clownfield isn’t doing well, Battlefield seems to be doing better. There are currently 88% positive reviews on Steam, while Battlefield has 33% positive reviews. The statistics there aren’t exactly the same; Clownfield has only had 1,427 reviews, while Battlefield has 84,129.
The Steam catalogue’s News currently lists Clownfield fourth from the top. In spite of its unsurprising amount of jokes, memes, and general clowning, some users have noted that it is actually cleaner than its inspiration.
One Steam user writes, “Great multiplayer. Scoreboard. Instant respawn. Hilarious fun. Better than Battlefield 2042?”
“It’s less buggy than the original,” wrote another.
There are no crazy DLC packs or anything like that, so it is much more affordable than Battlefield 2042.
Only one consistent complaint against Clownfield is cheaters in online matches, though the developers announced earlier this week that anti-cheat systems are being developed. What a strange little world we live in, when they solve that problem, they may have created a parody that successfully eclipses its source material.
