Jim Ryan apologized for disruptions in supply since the launch.
It sounds like Sony boss Jim Ryan says the PS5 supply issue has been “resolved.” Ryan appeared onscreen at the PlayStation Partner Awards in Japan to address the crowd. “We’re happy to report that we’ve resolved the long-term supply issue with the PlayStation 5 and we’ll be able to deliver to Japan and Asia customers by the end of the year and into 2023,” Ryan said (translated by Genki on Twitter).
The team apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates your understanding. Many people have been waiting for three years to get their hands on the PS5. Ryan didn’t elaborate on how or why it’s finally resolved.
Ryan says the PS5 stock and supply issues aren’t fixed worldwide yet. Although it’s obvious from his speech, the PlayStation head says Sony is targeting Japanese and Asian audiences for stock this holiday season. It seems like Sony would announce this soon if it applies worldwide.
There’s no reason PlayStation won’t ship games from these regions. Back in 2021, Sony flew PS5 stock from Asia straight to the UK just before Christmas, boosting sales throughout the country just in time for Christmas.
