Smite Spin-off Divine Knockout Is a Third-Person Version of Super Smash Bros

Brawlhalla and MultiVersus have since challenged Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros franchise for dominance of the platform fighter genre. Each of these games has its own unique mechanics, but none of them have strayed from side-scrolling. Introducing Divine Knockout (DKO), the new third-person platform brawler from Red Beard Games and Hi-Rez. Rather than a 2D fighter, DKO takes the Smash formula and makes it behind the camera. DKO is a third-person 3D brawler that takes players right into the action.

With mighty blows, players knock enemies out of the arena by damaging them. The first third-person platform fighter is set in a vibrant stylised world of gods and mythology. Throw boulders like Hercules, swing Excalibur like King Arthur, or wield Mjolnir like Thor. It’s also a spinoff of Hi-Rez’s Smite games, which also twisted the multiplayer online battle arena formula by adding a third-person perspective. This means DKO will launch with familiar heroes like Amaterasu, Sol, Hercules, Susano, Ymir, Athena, Thor, and King Arthur. Players have to master different deadly mechanics to win each arena. Some maps crumble over time, while others have tricky traps. Arcade modes include 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3.

You’ll be able to play Knockout, King of the Hill, Coin Blitz, and Oddball at launch. Cross-play and cross-progression will be available on all platforms, with player progress and purchases transferring. DKO’s Closed Alpha testing will end soon, and it is available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and PlayStation. On December 6, the game launches worldwide on all these platforms and Xbox systems. Despite being free-to-play, the game will launch with the Founders Edition, which includes the full game, eight Gods, cosmetics, and SMITE bonuses, as well as the Ultimate Edition, which unlocks even more Gods.
