It allows you to customize both your avatar’s appearance and the name that appears to other players. Your permanent Roblox username may not accurately reflect your personality after some time. Display Names let you customize your appearance in the virtual world while keeping your original account. Here’s everything you need to know about changing your Roblox Display Name.
Roblox Display Name vs Username
A username is always unique to a specific account and includes an @ symbol at the start, so it can always be used to identify a specific player. While your display name doesn’t have to be unique within the game, you can change it regularly, giving you more scope to be creative and express yourself. When you’ve set your Roblox Display Name, you’ll see it in your profile, chat, search results, and hovering above your avatar’s head.
Roblox Display Name – Get it or Change it
If you want to change or get a Roblox Display Name, first log in to your account Info page under settings, then select the edit button next to the display name entry. Once you’ve entered your new display name, click save to lock it in – make sure you like it first, because it can only be changed once a week.
Roblox Display Names have some restrictions, so keep these in mind:
-
Display names must be 3-20 characters
-
Display names should have letters, numbers, and underscores.
-
Usernames of high-profile users cannot match Display Names
-
Community Rules (opens in new tab) must pass for Display Names
Your Roblox Display Name shouldn’t be offensive, and you shouldn’t try to impersonate any well-known players. Enjoy your new Display Name, and remember to change it every week if you change your mind.
