What Exactly Is the Warzone 2 DMZ Mode?

DMZ is an extraction mode that’s all about loot

DMZ gives Warzone 2 players a different experience from battle royale by focusing on looting rather than outlasting your opponents. Once you reach your extraction point, all your in-game gear is safe, but if you’re defeated, you lose it all and must restart the game. As players adjust to a new kind of warfare, the DMZ will get a lot of attention. Check out what we know about Warzone 2’s new DMZ mode.

DMZ for Warzone 2 so far

According to what we know, the DMZ mode in Modern Warfare 2 will be very different from your typical multiplayer game. In the game, squads or solitary players can choose a landing spot and loot it. According to audio tracks that have leaked, you’ll become a target yourself if you engage in combat with hostile Operators and AI soldiers.

Getting to the extraction point where you can flee with your booty means collecting treasures, eradicating threats, and living long enough to collect them. Choosing your loadout is all about balancing risk and benefit. In case of exfiltration success, new equipment is received for future missions; in case of failure, everything you had is lost.

Warzone 2 DMZ has missions, goals, and AI foes

The hazards in the DMZ will extend beyond people as you take on faction-based missions, battle for gear, reach exfiltration, and engage AI warriors.

DMZ is getting a new backpack system in Warzone 2

Obviously, you’ll need more storage if you’re trying to fill your pockets with top-tier stuff. The Warzone 2 DMZ mode now has a backpack system for handling and storing equipment. A simplified version of this new mechanism will also be in the standard battle royale mode.

You can join other squads in proximity chat in Warzone 2 DMZ

Be careful about proximity communication in Warzone 2 so you don’t tip off enemies. It’s also a good idea to keep in touch since you’ll be able to team up with rival Operators in squad-based DMZ modes and unique battle royale playlists—as long as you can work out a peaceful cease-fire.
