How To Counter the Mega Alakazam Raid in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go Mega Alakazam counters, you’ll be sure to catch this Psychic-type. Despite being one of the most iconic Pokemons in the franchise, Mega Evolution has been missing since the popular mobile game introduced it.

Psychic-type Mega Pokemon like Slowbro, Latios, and Latias are also available to Pokemon Go trainers.

When Pokemon Go Psychic Spectacular 2022 starts, Mega Alakazam will appear in Mega Raids. Get them before they’re gone. Just don’t expect to use them in Pokemon Go Psychic Cup, which has strict rules.

Alakazam counters in Pokemon Go

The best counters against Mega Alakazam involve a number of Megas. Since Mega Alakazam is a pure Psychic type, it is vulnerable to only Bug, Ghost, and Dark attacks.

In this battle, dark types will work because there are three Mega Pokemon that will be able to exploit Mega Alakazam’s weakness. Mega Gyarados, Mega Absol, and Mega Houndoom will all deal massive damage and resist Alakazam’s Psychic moves. Hyrdreigon, Tyranitar, and Weavile will also power up your team’s Dark moves.

For now, Mega Gengar is the only Ghost-type Mega Pokemon in the game, so if you want to build a Ghost team it’ll have to suffice. However, Gengar’s Poison type leaves it vulnerable to Alakazam’s Psychic moves.

Mega Beedrill deals a lot of damage, but won’t last long. In fact, the newly added Mega Scizor is a better Bug-type Mega to boost your Bug-type team. However, Mega Alakazam has a move that can deal with Bug types.

Pokemon Go Mega Alakazam Moves

As a Psychic-type Pokemon, Mega Alakazam has two Fast Attacks of that type: Confusion and Psycho Cut. Gengar and Beedrill will find them hard to resist.

Future Sight is a Psychic-type move, so it follows the same rules as Confusion and Psycho Cut, but Alakazam can also use Focus Blast, which is a Fighting-type move.

Using them against Tyranitar, a formidable Pokemon that is four times weak to this move, is a risk trainers will have to take.

The Ghost-type attack Shadow Ball is also resisted by Dark types, and Gengar is weak to it. And in the end, Fire Punch is a Fire-type attack. Mega Gyarados and Houndoom will resist it, but Mega Scizor is four times weaker.

Although the chances of facing an Alakazam with Fire Punch are low, trainers should be aware of this possibility.
