You Won’t See Scarlet and Violet Starter Evolutions Before Launch

Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly may not get an early look.

There’s a lot of excitement over Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter evolutions, but the marketing cycles for other recent Pokemon games suggest we won’t see one official reveal for a while. Scarlet and Violet fans go crazy whenever the developers reveal new information, like today’s look at Greavard, the ghostly good boy. Basically, they’re saying, ‘yeah, that’s all cool, but when are we going to see the starter evolutions??? You’re probably one of them.

They’re saying, in essence, ‘yeah that’s neat and all, but when are we seeing the starter evolutions?’ If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of those fans. Our best guess is that we won’t see the starter evolutions before launch. Before the 2019 launch of Sword and Shield, the starter evolutions weren’t revealed.

It was revealed before the launch of Sun and Moon in 2016, though, there was one of the biggest leaks in series history. Taking it back to Gen 6 with Pokemon X and Y in 2013 takes us to an entirely different era of marketing. Pokemon Switch games have a pattern of withholding insight into the starter evolutions. I guess we’ll just have to imagine what Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly will be.

Despite no official reveal, there’s a very good chance that leaks will reveal the evolutions before launch. Two weeks before launch, leakers revealed Sword and Shield’s starters, too. It’s three weeks until Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch on November 18, so spoilers might be coming soon, whether you want them or not.
