Is GTA Online down? Here’s how to check Rockstar’s servers
It’s annoying when you can’t access Los Santos and Blaine County because GTA Online is down. On occasion, you might have trouble logging in because the servers are down. No worries, everyone else is getting the same loading screens and error messages, so you’re not alone.
Our focus is helping you dominate Los Santos, not troubleshooting errors. Basically, here’s how to find out if GTA Online is down, how to fix it (if anything), and when it’ll be back. We’ve got a separate guide on how to fix the “Your profile doesn’t have permission to access GTA Online” error.
Has GTA Online gone down?
As a result of the Criminal Enterprises update, the GTA Online servers are under heavy strain, so you might have connectivity issues. Hopefully, Rockstar will fix it soon so all platforms are working again.
Get the latest updates on any issues and resolutions on the @RockstarSupport Twitter feed. Likewise, you’ll find patch notes for GTA Online, though unlike many other games, servers aren’t usually taken down for planned updates since they’re just rolled out. Rockstar Service Status page(opens in new tab) is also a good place to check if GTA Online is down. Alternatively, you can contact Rockstar Games Customer Support (opens in new tab).
For now, you can check Downdetector’s GTA Online status page (opens in new tab) to see if other players are having the same trouble. We’re looking into wider issues if we’re getting a lot of reports. Additionally, if you’re a console player, check out PlayStation Network Status(opens in new tab) or Xbox Live Status(opens in new tab), just in case.
What’s the downtime for GTA Online?
Don’t freak out if GTA Online goes down. GTA Online’s servers are rarely down for long periods of time thanks to Rockstar’s solid infrastructure. Keep trying, and you’ll be back up in no time.
