Early Access Streamers Aren’t Allowed to Doxx in Modern Warfare 2

Be careful streaming the early access campaign if you don’t want everyone to know your info

The developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is warning content creators to be careful what information they share when streaming.

Modern Warfare 2 streamers were urged to only use their face cams when loading into the game, the studio tweeted Wednesday. The game starts with a login screen that displays your email address and Activision ID, so it’d be pretty easy for an unwitting creator to accidentally expose their personal information.

Infinity Ward tweeted: “If you’re streaming Campaign Early Access, please go full face cam when you load the game.” There’s a screen with your email/ATVI ID, so be careful.”

AAA studios don’t often warn content creators against doxxing themselves, but if it prevents a potential problem, you can’t complain. Many online pointed out that Infinity Ward and Activision could take matters into their own hands by simply removing the sensitive information from that screen. For now, just keep your eyes on what screens you’re streaming out and heed this PSA.

Anyone with a digital pre-order can start playing Modern Warfare 2 tomorrow, October 20. For those getting ready for the campaign and don’t want to wait, it’s also available to preload right now on all platforms. Everyone else gets it a week later on October 27.
