In time for the game’s launch, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developers are making a change to aiming down sights in third-person mode. The Modern Warfare 2 beta, ADS put you in first-person. In the middle of a firefight, switching back and forth between first and third-person perspectives are pretty jarring as well. However, now ADS will work as it does in most third-person shooters.
“No scope, no problem,” the developers said on Instagram. “Scopes over 4X will activate first-person ADS.” Third-person mode was in Modern Warfare 2, and even after so many years of pure first-person Call of Duty action, the third-person mode was one of the most popular options in the beta.
As part of their announcement, the developers revealed a host of changes coming to Modern Warfare 2 in response to beta feedback. Across the game, footstep audio balance and enemy visibility will be improved, along with third-person shoulder swapping. Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC. As of October 20, pre-orders of Call of Duty MW2 will get early access to the campaign.
