Fans think Bellibolt was inspired by Politoed, a creature from the Pokémon Gold and Silver demo, which looks like an electric frog. Bellibolt looks a lot like Politoed, the demo designed for Gold and Silver that was scrapped. Aside from being big, green frogs, both Pokémon have the same face design. Politoed has nostrils, and Bellibolt has eyes, but they’re actually electricity sacks. The same big circle on their bellies, the same yellow circle in the middle, and the same orange knee pads.
It’s unlikely that Bellibolt is based on Politoed from the Pokémon Gold and Silver demo, but the similarities are undeniable. We do know some things about the new Pokémon, who is gym leader Iono’s partner. With its elastic body, Bellibolt generates electricity that’s stored in its belly button and blasted from its fake eyeballs.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the ninth generation of games for Nintendo Switch, will release on November 18. The game features a series of first cooperative modes, an open world set in Paldea, and legendary Pokémon that turn into bikes.
