Responsible Gaming and Addiction

Ugandans love gaming, it’s one of their favorite pastimes. Especially when it comes to online gaming. Online gaming is safe in Uganda because the National Gaming Board regulates it. In spite of the regulations, it’s still your responsibility to make sure you’re playing the right way and avoiding any gambling issues. Many people became addicted because they didn’t get advice on how to play. Due to their inability to exercise restraint, many people have lost their jobs and had to borrow money for their gaming. It’s really hard to make money from gaming unless you’re disciplined.
Regardless of how much money you’ve lost, gambling is the most common symptom. Often, addiction is found in gamers who play day and night and who resort to pleading tactics when told to stop. There’s always a request for more time or another game. Alcohol and drugs are most commonly used to fuel or intensify addiction since they remove inhibitions.

How to avoid the addiction – The Four Pointers

1) Set a budget

Setting a budget gives you the discipline you need to play video games. Because everyone earns different incomes, it’s important to make your budget fit your income rather than based on others. Keep in mind that gaming money shouldn’t take priority over bills like rent, food, and tuition. If you have other essential expenses left over, you can take it out of your supplementary budget. Whatever you do, stick to your budget and don’t deviate from it. Invest your winnings instead of unplanned money if you’re going to reinvest.

2) Don’t get into debt

Borrowing for gaming is a bad idea. Besides making you anxious, it’ll strain your finances too. Don’t forget that gaming isn’t a necessity, so if you don’t have money, postpone it rather than get in debt.

3) Have a strict set of rules

Setting up your own rules will help you stay disciplined. Keep a time limit so you don’t miss out on other stuff. In addition, you don’t want to raise the stakes when you lose. Keep track of all losses instead of using them as tickets to play more. Also, make sure you stay on top of the rules you have set.

4) Never depend on luck

Luck is just odds, and it doesn’t guarantee a good gaming experience. It’s important to know that sometimes you’ll win, sometimes you’ll lose. It’s going to happen at some point, but don’t keep playing thinking it’s your night just yet. Don’t take the game too seriously and have fun while you’re playing. Don’t worry about winning, just have fun.
These are just a few tips for avoiding gambling. Still, there’s hope if you end up an addict. It might be necessary to get some professional help along the way and close your accounts for a while.
